Breton Bay Foreshore

Range to Reef Environmental developed a foreshore management plan for a rural subdivision

at Breton Bay.

The foreshore plan was required to fulfil conditions of subdivision approval. In addition to this,

R2R provided specialist advice on building envelopes, and proposed beach access routes from

the subdivision lots.

The foreshore management plan provided a framework for protecting and enhancing the

environmental, landscape, heritage and recreation values of the Breton Bay coast, consistent

with the State Planning Policy (SPP) 2.6.

The development of the foreshore plan involved;

  • a review of the values, approval conditions and requirements of the State Coastal Planning Policy (2.6) and other planning guidelines;

  • Field visits and familiarisation with landforms, slope, possible access routes, and conservation issues such as vegetation, and erosion;

  • Review of landform and stability, ecological values, fire risk, land capability and access track/routes;

  • liaison with relevant stakeholders including Department of Planning, Water Corporation, Department of Parks and Wildlife, Local Shire and fire management consultants;

  • Provision of other advice and recommendations

  • Project outcomes;

  • a foreshore management plan satisfying the subdivision conditions

  • recommendations on protection of landform and vegetation values on proposed lots including possible building locations

  • proposed beach access routes from lot
