An environmental management system (EMS) provides an framework to help organisations manage their environmental impacts and improve environmental performance. An EMS includes key elements such as an overarching policy, goal setting, record keeping and establishing and coordinating consistent management practices for all environmental activities.

Range to Reef Environmental support clients implementing improvements to their existing EMS or creating a new system.

We typically undertake the following stepwise process to develop an EMS:

  • identify legal requirements

  • conduct team based environmental risk assessments

  • review or develop an environmental policy that reflects the organisation's environmental commitments and goals

  • develop environmental objectives, strategies, targets and key performance indicators

  • support environmental programs to achieve environmental objectives

  • develop procedures and training packages to support an EMS

  • undertake reviews and audits of environmental performance.
