The large numbers seen have been attributed to a number of factors including good sea conditions such as currents, swell, winds and temperatures. More information can be found at the Christmas Island National Park website. http://blog.parksaustralia.gov.au/2015/02/02/huge-baby-red-crab-return-for-christmas-island/
